We support training, mentorship, and systems development to improve neurosurgical and pediatric care.

3. Support Inclusive Education

We work with public schools to create supportive environments for children with disabilities.

5. Promote Prevention

We advocate for: 1. Folic acid supplementation. 2. Fortified maize flour and staple foods. 3. Community awareness for women of reproductive age.

2. Build Capacity of District Hospitals

We train healthcare workers in: 1. Clean Intermittent Catheterization (CIC). 2. Infection prevention. 3. Bowel management. 4. Follow-up care systems.

4. Advocate for Policy Change

We engage with the Ministry of Health and Local Government Authorities to promote: 1. Inclusion in national policies. 2. Health financing support. 3. Sustainable supply of medical devices.

6. Improve Access to Essential Medical Devices

We support availability of: 1. VP shunts. 2. Catheters. 3. Bowel washout supplies. 4. Other essential materials for ongoing care.

Mwanangu Development Tanzania (MWADETA) is a national non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of children living with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. We strengthen hospitals, train district healthcare providers, support inclusive schools, advocate for government policy change, promote prevention through folic acid and food fortification, and improve access to essential medical devices — ensuring that life-saving services are available closer to children’s homes and communities across Tanzania.
